They are the only insect that directly makes a product that humans can eat, which is honey. They also pollinate plants and crops. That means that they help plants, such as apple trees and sunflowers, to grow. In fact, one out of three bites of your food comes from bees. Without bees we would have few fruits and vegetables. Some of the cause of the population drop may be the Varroa mite, Colony Collapse Disorder(CCD), lack of nutrition and pesticides.
